Do I need a partner for the Miami/Cuban Style Salsa Class ? Coming with a partner to the class is highly recomended but not necessary. The class requires you to keep switching partners as it progresses, accordingly you will not be staying with one partner during the class. If you do have a partner, you will benefit from the abitlity to practice the moves you learned in class at your own time and pace.
I took Miami/Cuban Salsa before, do i have to start from level 1 ? No, you don't, right before the new sessions starts we will meet up with you and test your knowledge of the turns you know and accordingly you will be placed in the approriate level.
If I learned Miami/Cuban Style Salsa can i dance it one-on-one with a partner or do I need a big group ? Yes, you can dance it one-on-one with a partner. The advantage of Miami/Cuban style Salsa is that it allows you to dance in a big group (which other styles don't) and also it teaches you how to apply the same moves with just one partner.
Can I join the class the day after it has started ? Yes you can, only if you missed just the first class. All you have to do is come at least 30 minutes earlier before the next class and we will go over the steps you missed. Make sure to let us know that you are coming earlier at least one day in advance. If you missed the first two classes you can only join the group class if you take a private class to catch up on what you missed, otherwise you will be too far behind and will delay the rest of the people taking the class.
Am I allowed to take videos of the classes so that I can practice at home ? Unfortunately, we don't allow video recording of any sort. The reason being, if you practice to the video at home, and there was something not clear in the video, you might learn it the wrong way. So we would rather if you come before each time the class starts and ask us any questions you might have. However, all of our students will have access to our videos of the turns learned in class posted on our website, for reference when practicing at home.
How Many Styles of Salsa are there ? There are many styles of Salsa Dance styles besides Miami/Cuban Style, such as L.A Style, New York Style, afro-Salsa among others. Nevertheless the music is the same for all, you can pick any salsa song and dance to it with any style.
